I have been reading the Who Was/ Who Is….. books. They are biographies about really famous and inspirational people including artists, sports heroes, musicians, and people who did amazing things that changed the world. The books tells about their childhood how they became famous and what they did, step by step to achieve their dreams. I’ve read Who Is Jane Goodall, Who Was Rosa Parks, Who Was Martin Luther King, Jr., Who Was Neil Armstrong and Who Was Babe Ruth. I really like these books because I get to understand what happened in their life, their journey, their challenges and their successes.
In the Jane Goodall book, it told her about her stuffed monkey she got when she was a baby and I loved reading about her trips to Africa and all the Chimpanzees. I loved the Babe Ruth one because I love baseball and reading about the first time he hit his first home run in Toronto – it was fun and exciting. In the one about Martin Luther King Jr it tells about his famous I Have A Dream speech and the marches he did for human rights. The Rosa Parks book tells about how she got people to care about equality and how one woman can make big change. I’ve learned so much more about all these people. I also love that this series is specially written for kids. I understand all of the words and the history is shared in a way that is really exciting and inspiring. It taught me so much about each person and where they went, what they did and how.
I love all kinds of books. Fiction, non-fiction, novels, auto biography’s but these books really interest me. They are each about real people and real stories. They are about people who make an impact on our world and who inspire me and people I’ve met.
Other biographies in this series that I am looking forward to reading are:
Who Was Amelia Earhart? She was the first women who flew in a airplane in 1928.
Who Was Claude Monet? He is a world-famous painter – I saw some of Monet’s paintings In New York City at MOMA.
Who Was Helen Keller? She redefined the possible, she’s deaf and blind and she went to University she showed people that even though she can’t hear or see she can still get an awesome education she can still accomplish amazing things.
Who Were The Beatles? Come on, they’re The Beatles!
I just got the book Who Was Walt Disney? I think I will love this book because he created Mickey Mouse and Disney World – the place where everything is magic. I’ve been to Disney World and it is awesome!
Here are some books that they have not written (yet) that I would love to read:
Who Was Mahatma Gandhi?
Who Is David Suzuki?
Who Was Terry Fox?
Who Is The Dalai Lama?
Who Was Mother Teresa?
I love reading. It can teach you about real people, adventures and maybe you’ll find someone who might inspire you. I learned so much from the Who Was/ Who Is books, they’ve taught me even more about people I really like and who inspire me.
