Just announced for We Day in Toronto: Lil JaXe

September 12, 2012 By callmehannah 3 Comments

Many of you may not know Lil JaXe, a 13-year-old rapper from Toronto, but you will. He’s one of the performers just announced at this year’s We Day in Toronto!

Jake Zeldin has struggled with a serious stutter all his life, but when he raps the stutter disappears! My dad, Eric, met him last year, and was so impressed with Jake that he wanted to do the interview with him at the 140 Conference in New York. Below is the video to see him wow the crowd (Jake, not my dad, although I think he did well, too.)

His mother, Robyn, says they worked with different speech therapies but nothing worked. At camp, Jake discovered when he rapped, his stutter disappeared completely. It’s been hard for Jake at school and has been bullied. After this, I’m sure this won’t happen anymore. He’s a huge inspiration to me, and I know to others, as well. Way to go, Jake!

What an inspiring story! I just watched his video called “Kid With a Dream” on YouTube, and it tells his personal story in a rap song – this kid actually has talent, and a winning personality too – very refreshing! I hope he performs this song at WE Day.
