My Mom and I went to Staples to buy school supplies, eco-friendly, of course. If you know me or have read my blog you know that I really care about the environment. At Staples I got a list of all of the things that I will need for Grade 4 and we got most of what we needed and most of it is eco-friendly.
We went up and down the aisles with our list looking for the most eco-friendly choices. They had a lot of options that were exactly what I was looking for. It made me happy to see so many eco supplies.
If I could make a suggestion, I would put all of the eco supplies in one place so it would be easier to find them.
Here are my favourite eco-friendly school supplies and what I like about each of them:
There’s my eco-friendly picks for back to school. While we were at Staples we saw that they have an awesome recycling program. I’m going to save that information for my next post.
Are you finished your back to school shopping? Tell me about your favourite stuff.

Hannah,
When I see that there are young people in the world like you, I have hope for the future. You are the future and keep fighting the apathy of adults. They just don’t get it like you do.
Peace!

I love this Hannah. I’ll be going out this week to get my kids’ school supplies and I love some of the products you found. I’ll be sure to look for them.
We also went through my son’s school supplies from last year at the end of the year and set aside the binders, pencil cases, scissors and other school supplies that were still in great shape so that we can re-use them again this year.

Thank you so much Gayla! That’s so awesome that you’re going to but eco-friendly supplies. Great, The girls are reusing their bags. That’s too bad that Samantha’s backback is ripped, but it’s good that she’s reusing a different bag! I love the fold out cutliry just as much as they do. The big thermoses are perfect! I lost my Gesher lunch bag. I’m so glad that you are going to look for eco school supplies! Thanks!

Wow, Hannah. I am so impressed. Just went shopping for supplies with my kids today searching out the most ecofriendly ones and came home with very little. We will have to check out the products you found at Staples. I am going to share your list with families at our school. Thanks so much for doing the legwork and for caring enough to do so! (I have a 9 yr. old boy going into 4th grade and can’t wait to show him your blog.)

Thank you! That’s ok that you only found some eco- friendly products. Check at Staples. That’s so good that you’re going to pass it on about the school supplies! I do the posts because I care about the environment! I hope your son has an amazing year at school! I can’t wait for you to show your my blog. Maybe he’ll be inspired.

Hi Hannah. Even though I spent big bucks on a back pack $75 I will be re using the pencil case pens markers etc for my daughter this year and her thermos as well. She needed a new back pack the cheap ones just did not last. It is great to encourage kids to use things while they last especially in this consumer society when everybody wants brand new all the time and bigger and better and the latest stuff.
callmehannah says
Thank you so much Tunde! That backpack will last a really long time, it’s great that you’re reusing your daughter’s pencil case, markers and her thermos! I try to encourage kids to reuse their things instead of buying new things! When you’re reusing you’re also saving money, so it’s a amazing deal! I hope your daughter has an awesome year of school!

This is my first time on your blog and I am now a FAN…it is FABOOSH…
Thank you for all the great tips…I have 4 kids so getting them back to school is not only pricey…but there is always so much waste…
Have a great back to school!!!
callmehannah says
Thank you so much Dee! I really like the word FABOOSH! The back to school things are pricey when you’re buying for 4! You can reuse your backpack or lunchbag so you’re saving money and being eco and there are probably things that they can share like your markers, calculator, pencils and dictionary.
Hope your kids have a great back to school!

Hey Hannah,
I see all of your posts about sustainability, causes for social change and helping one another. I was wondering, if you’ve found this same intiative with the apparel that you wear. Do you shop with eco or sustainable brands?
Alexa says
I love your blog, it is so amazing!!!! I reused my backpack too! It is so nice that you care so much about the earth! I’m in fourth grade too.
callmehannah says
