I’ve been taking a look at several movies showing at this year’s Planet In Focus Film Festival, and the first review I did was Return to Ryan’s Well, which was has a great message. The second film I reviewed was The Little Things, and it was really inspirational. I love the idea behind this next one.
Plant This Movie demonstrates how the solution for a sustainable future grows in our very own backyards. encourages audiences to use their green space to grow vegetables instead of grass. Our lawns in North America are the most well-tended and well-thirsted crop on the continent, and despite most of us wanting a clean cut lawn, we might want to look towards the future.
Those who have tasted a tomato or a cucumber grown in your own garden know it’s tastier and fresher than most places you can buy. The fruits and vegetables found in grocery stores have sometimes been packed from hundreds of miles away, shipped in transport trucks, and distributed in plastic, damaging the freshness of the food, and harming our eco-system further.
Darryl Hannah narrates this documentary that shows how our changes in how we live changed how we grow and consume our food. The film tells about the need for urban farming using examples from around the world in which individuals and communities return to the green space.
