Give the Gift of a Better World

It’s that time of the year again! I love the holiday season (and not just because it’s officially winter break). It’s a time for the people that you love to come together and celebrate. Traditionally, it also means exchanging gifts.  This year instead of giving my family and friends something that just wraps nicely in a bow, I chose gifts with impact to give them something that they will cherish and will also change someone’s life.

Naturally, to do this I went with Me to We to do my shopping for my people. Me to We part of the WE family that includes We Day and Free The Children. All of the products for sale from Me to We are matched with direct impacts in Free The Children communities. Each item comes with a tag that tells you what and where you are making a difference. This is called Track Your Impact. They also each have a unique tracking number that you can enter online and follow the change that you are making. Whenever you buy something from their website, you feel so good because you know that just by buying something, you have made the world a better place.

Here is some of what I chose for my family and friends for the holidays this year.

For My Friends

ovenmitts

What I chose: Patchwork Oven Mitts

Price: $32.00

Impact: The oven mitts do not have a specific impact but rather one that is ever lasting.  The Me to We artisan program employs more than 1000 Mamas in Kenya. The inside of the tag reads:

Asante. In Swahili, the word for thank you is asante. When you wear this original Me to We Artisan product, you honour the mama who crafted it by hand using traditional practices shared across generations. Sustainably produced using locally sourced materials, each piece connects you to a Mama in a Free The Children community overseas. With every purchase, you help empower women by providing them with a sustainable source of income to support their families.

For My Other Grandmother:
