I spoke with a few of the artists about their advice for people who are being bullied, and here’s what they said!
“When I was first starting out, I wanted to learn, I wanted to travel, I wanted to do things, and went ahead and started to work towards those goals. The people who were jealous…I don’t even think it was jealousy. I think they just didn’t understand who I was as a person. And knowing what kind of a person you are is really, really important. Those people who might bully you, or harass you, they have to understand that not everybody is on the same path in life. Some may mature faster, some don’t know what they want to do, and that’s perfectly fine. You have to accept where you really are in life, and other people need to not come down on anyone else who might not find out what they want to do, or be different. It’s not right, and it’s not ok.”
– Becky G
“I was bullied as a kid, as I’m sure most kids were. I wasn’t the guy playing sports, I was the little guy with a guitar. It’s really hard to be confident when you’re young, believe me. But if you do the things you love do, whether it’s singing or dancing, or drawing, or anything, it does make you a more confident person. Also, talk to someone. I know it’s difficult, but nothing gets solved if you keep it inside of you. Talk to your parents, your teacher, it doesn’t even have to be someone in authority. It can be a friend, or someone that you trust. Don’t be that person that ends up bullying the bully. Fighting fire with fire doesn’t help. Talking and working it out does.”
– Shane Harte
“You have to keep doing what you love to do. And keeping being who YOU are. Trust the opinions of your family, your friends, and people that you love and love you. You can’t let anyone stop you from achieving your dreams.”
– Brad Simpson, The Vamps

I am a teacher at St. Margaret Mary School. My junior high is so excited to meet you Monday. Our local service is going to be to help as many homeless men and children in the city of louisville as possible by making them backpacks filled with items they need. We also will be participating in water for blessings and the rice bowl service to help feed those across the world. This is our first year to follow in your footsteps. See you soon

It was great meeting you and your students! I loved speaking in Louisville. The energy was amazing. I was honored to speak in front of so many students like yours who were making a difference. I am so happy that you and your students were inspired by my story and my acts. Remember to create your own story and your own change. Keep up the awesome work!
